What sets strong women apart from others is their ability to take control of their lives amidst difficulties. They don’t let challenges get the best of them. They keep on keeping on by doing the following.
Practices self-care
A strong woman is a warrior. And like any trained warrior, she knows the importance of taking care of herself. Whether that means taking time to exercise regularly, ditching the donuts for healthier alternatives or guarding her mental health through practices like mindfulness or meditation, a strong woman’s health is one of her top priorities. She takes care of her own needs and treats herself with the same kindness as she would her best friend.
Knows when to say “No”
Setting personal boundaries is an essential part of self-care. Although strong women generally often make time to lend a helping hand when needed, they know their limits and aren’t afraid to say no to requests that will spread them too thin. They are comfortable and confident in their decisions and understand that at the end of the day, they answer only to themselves.
Invites Confidence
As Marianne Williamson said in a remarkable quote: “We are all meant to shine… And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” She understands (as most strong women do) that as you remain true to yourself you inspire confidence in others and create a network of strong, supportive women. Talk about girl power!
Isn’t afraid to ask for help
Strength isn’t about being independent and doing everything yourself. Knowing when and how to ask for a hand shows that you understand your capabilities and aren’t threatened by another’s abilities.
Works hard for what she wants
Despite – or perhaps because of – obstacles that may arise, a strong woman is focused on her goals and will work tirelessly until she reaches them. She’s willing to make sacrifices to ensure her dreams become a reality.
Speaks her mind
It takes a lot of strength to be honest with those around you. And it takes a special kind of woman to understand the need to be honest with her emotions, her opinions and in her beliefs. A strong woman won’t hide behind a mask; instead, she will own her authentic voice.
Practices kindness
Kindness is often mistaken for weakness. In reality, it takes a lot more strength of character and patience to be kind and considerate to those around you – especially when dealing with difficult people or differing opinions.
Surrounds herself with positive people
There is no room for negativity. Strong women understand boundaries and aren’t afraid to cut out toxic people who violate hers. A strong woman has high standards for the people she chooses to spend her time with and would rather be alone than waste her time with anyone who might use and abuse her.
She inspires
Without having to declare her presence, a strong woman inspires by the way she conducts herself. Even when her life situation is less than ideal, she self-assuredly lives her best life. She doesn’t compare, and she doesn’t compete – instead, she gives and takes as she goes through her life journey.
She embraces growth
Change is challenging for most everyone – but a strong woman embraces the opportunity for growth and is always looking for ways to improve. It’s not because she doesn’t think she’s good enough, rather she understands how important it is to stay engaged and lead a fulfilling life. She is aware of her ever-growing potential and always strives to reach it.
