At 23-years-old, well before his acting career took off, Jim Carrey wrote himself a check “for acting services rendered” in the amount of $10 million.
Why?
Carrey was ready to quit the business, but he didn’t want to give up just yet. He dated the check for 10 years in the future, when he would be 33.
At 33-years-old, Carrey landed a contract for the film ‘Dumb and Dumber‘ for… exactly $10 million!
“If my career in show business hadn’t panned out, I would probably be working today in Hamilton, Ontario, at the Dofasco steel mill. Those were where the great jobs were,” he said, in an interview.
It seems true rags to riches stories still exist!
