A 36-year-old mother from Michigan woke up on Monday morning as a multi-millionaire.
Rachel Frye won a million dollar prize on August 4th, but didn’t check her lottery account until early this week. On top of matching the five white balls required for a seven-figure payout, she bought a Megaplier ticket, meaning that her total award was doubled.
“I play Mega Millions online pretty often. When I woke up the morning after the drawing, I checked my Lottery account on my phone. When I saw that I had a pending balance of $2 million, all I could think was: ‘That’s not right!’
“I closed my app and checked my email. When I saw the email from Lottery saying I had won a prize and to check my account, I knew it must be real! I rolled over and started shaking my husband to wake him up and stuck my phone in his face screaming ‘Look at this! Look at this!’”
While the MegaMillions is now down to $33 million, the Powerball is at $313 million and will be pulled on Wednesday.
