It’s 4pm and you can feel your eyelids drooping. The clock suddenly starts ticking slower and you’re one step closer to giving up. Instead of letting that 4 pm slump get you down, here are four ways you can conquer it!
1. Never skip a meal
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and so is lunch, so it’s critical that we never skip any of these meals. For breakfast, it’s essential to stock up on healthy foods that will give you energy and help sustain you. Also don’t forget to have lunch, this way your energy will be maintained. In addition to never skipping a meal, you want to make sure you stay away from foods that are heavy or high in calories. They might fill you up momentarily, but they will end up draining you of your much-needed energy later on. Don’t forget that it’s great to stay hydrated as well. A parched tongue can be trouble because dehydration can cause you to become sleepy.
2. Get enough sleep
Sleep is your friend, and that’s why getting enough of it can help you nip that unwanted 4pm slump right in the butt. Sleep helps us to restock on our energy, which will help us stay focused and functioning throughout the day. Sleep plays a potential role because it helps with vital functions such as metabolism, memory, learning, as well as other crucial functions.
3. Don’t stress it out, stretch it out
It can be a bit annoying just sitting in one specific spot, with minimal positions to switch to, that’s why it’s a good idea to get up and move around a bit. This doesn’t have to be a tedious task. You can get up and stretch your muscles a bit, or you can even keep it simple by going for a five minute walk.
4. Bring in some music
Trying to stay focused can become a task of its own, especially if the time is slowly dragging. To escape this torture, try listening to some music. Music is capable of transforming our mood, so just pop those headphones in and find a tune that will energize you.
