You don’t need to be in a relationship with someone for the holidays to feel special (contrary to popular belief). Without having a partner to worry about, this can ease some of your holiday stress. This doesn’t mean that you should kick your significant other to the curb – but if you’re single, embrace it! Here’s why.
You can focus on your family
For a lot of people, the holidays are the only time when they can actually see their family – whether it’s because of work or distance. Without having to split your time between your significant other’s family and your own, you’ll actually have the chance to find out what’s been going on in their lives sans distractions.
You won’t have to stress over buying the perfect gift for him
Holiday shopping for your family is stressful enough. Add a guy on top of all that, it’s even worse. I’ve spent countless hours worrying about whether or not my significant other will like (or even use) the gift I picked out for them. If you’re single, it’s one less thing you’ll have to worry about during this chaotic time of year.
You can spend time with yourself
After a particularly hard year, we all deserve a break. It’s comforting to know that you can just relax and recharge your batteries without fretting over how you’ll be spending the holidays with your partner. You can finally have that alone time that you’ve been dreaming of all year.
You won’t have to try to impress their family
Dealing with one set of parents is hard enough – having to spend time with your significant other’s family can add yet another stressor to your already busy life. There’s no need to be concerned about making a good impression on your partner’s family members if you don’t have one in the first place.
You won’t have to make compromises on how you want to spend your holiday
If you want to spend your holidays in pajamas, more power to you. If you want to eat whatever you want, whenever you want – no one’s there to stop you! Being single during the holidays means that you can spend them the way you want to without judgment, which is an incredibly freeing and relaxing feeling.
