Being in a relationship has its perks as well as its downsides. It won’t be easy, but nothing worth it ever will be. Thankfully, there are rules to live by when it comes to these crazy, miraculous, amazing things called relationships.
Never leave a problem unresolved
Don’t ignore the issues that arise. It’s important to have patience and address each of those things as a couple. It’s easier to confront problems head on rather than letting them build into one big, nasty and regretful argument.
Make time for each other
Never let your partner feel neglected—ever. Not even on the bad days. When you get busy, don’t wait around for your schedule to clear up. Make time for them. They’ll see how much they mean to you.
Keep your intentions pure
A clean heart is always the way to go. If your partner hurts you, doing things out of spite is not the answer. Fighting fire with fire can only end in so many ways, none of which are good. At the end of the day, what will matter is how you went about the situation, so make sure your actions are coming from a good place.
Keep things sweet
It doesn’t matter if you just celebrated your 50th anniversary; keep doing those awesome little things you did when the relationship first started blooming. Shower each other with compliments. Keep date night alive. Don’t stop cuddling. Maintain the spontaneity.
Don’t air your dirty laundry
It may feel good to vent to your friends after an argument or fight. But be careful about what you tell them; certain things should be kept private. It all comes down to respecting your partner and the relationship. If you make every little bad thing known to them, your friends may soon lose respect for your partner and view them in a negative light.
