5 Signs You’re on Empty (too Stressed) and How to Refill
We are so busy – taking care of tasks at home and at work, with little time for ourselves. Sometimes, it feels like you start your day and don’t come up for air until your head hits the pillow at night.
The mind takes over, the stress of the day accumulates and you can’t even go to sleep. How can you become more aware when you are stretched and living on the edge?
Your sense of humor is gone
You have always loved to laugh, and your friends know that about you, but lately, you just seem unhappy and are humorless.
Refill: Make a date with a friend who is a lot of fun. Don’t question that you don’t have time, just do it.
Nothing turns you on anymore
Life seems GRAY (not 50 shades of it), but one shade—dark.
Refill: Change things up. Act “as if” you want to do that, if you don’t. Do the opposite of what you’ve been doing.
Boring!
A new idea is nixed, you don’t try to make new friends, and the things you’ve been passionate about (in the past) are now on the back-burner.
Refill: Resurrect one thing that used to excite you, and do it. You might question why you are doing it, but do it anyway.
You can’t see a way out
You walk around somewhat depressed, because you know the way you’ve been behaving really isn’t you, but you don’t know how to get out of your rut.
Refill: Seek help from a therapist for a limited amount of time (until you get back into shape) or schedule time with a friend you admire and trust.
You lack energy, most of the time
Friends don’t know what’s gotten into you—you’ve been known at times to be like the bunny in the Energizer commercials—the battery that keeps going and going and going.
Refill: Start to take long walks again, or swim, or dance around the house. Anything that can shake you up and remind you how it used to be.
