A 68 year old Chicago man has decided to wrap up his career following the victory of a lifetime. A industrial mechanic, who lottery officials have deemed as “Mr. M”, said he had a ‘good gut feeling’ about the ticket once he bought it. Mr. M bought the ticket from Harlem Food and Liquors where he is a regular customer.
Kaushik Patel, a worker at Harlem Food and Liquours, recounted Mr. M’s victory and said that the patron bought the last ticket from the 50X Payout ticket in the machine.
“[Mr. M] then came back the next day and said ‘Hey buddy, I got a million dollar win from you!’ He was so happy, and smiling so big – it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy,” Patel said.
According to Mr. M he plans on using his new winnings to move closer to his children and he cannot wait to begin spoiling his grandchildren. Mr. M said that the new winnings give him the opportunity to focus on what really matters in his life–his family.
“I’m going to buy a condo near my kids, and trade in my car for a pick-up truck to help out my daughter who is always paying delivery fees for things,” Mr. M said. “I can now be her delivery man, and I won’t charge her a penny.”
This is the second time that Harlem Food and Liquors has sold a winning lotto ticket. A $1 million winning ticket was sold at the store in September 2022, as well. Harlem Food and Liquors received a $10,000 bonus for selling Mr. M his winning ticket.
