A 93-year-old South Carolina woman will have a new house, thanks to donations from Tyler Perry and other well-wishers.
Josephine Wright’s family had lived in the same house since the Civil War, when real estate developers suggested that her front porch was outside her property line and sued her for the location. After hearing about the story, Tyler Perry felt he had to get involved.
“‘I’ve pretty much been a fighter all my life’ said 93 year old Josephine Wright. Well, that makes two of us. Ms. Wright, please tell where to show up and what you need to help you fight,” Perry said, on Instagram.
Now, besides the $350K that has been raised via GoFundMe for Wright’s family, Perry will build a new, five-bedroom house for her and her grandchildren to live in.
