Imagine: It’s pre-COVID and you are at a bar or a party. Suddenly, you spot a gorgeous man from across the room. He’s different from the rest and you feel drawn to him like a magnet. You don’t want to come off as too needy or even desperate. So, what do you do? You make him irresistible to you! Below are 6 qualities that men find irresistible in women.
You’re not easy
Men love women who are not easy to get. You are the boss and you don’t fawn over any attractive guy who gives you the slightest bit of attention.
Dating Coach Jane Garapick advises, “Consciously realize that you’re not sure if he’s all that either. After all, you just met him.” Your life is not a Disney princess movie. Don’t fall in love with the first guy who gives you attention.
Garapick says, “[Men are] biologically wired for the chase, so let him chase you.” She clarifies that this is not an invitation to play games, but rather, to be confident in yourself.
You are confident
When you know that you are a total catch (without being arrogant about it), your body language mirrors that mentality. According to Garapick, men can’t help but go gaga over a woman who is just so sure of herself.
You’re honest
A study done in the Journal of Psychology and Human Sexuality found that both men and women “placed more importance on similarity and on socially appealing personality characteristics (e.g., intelligence, honesty, warmth) when considering a long-term romantic relationship.” This means that, when considering a long term relationship, people are more interested in characteristics such as intelligence and honesty. If you are honest (with yourself and others) you are more likely to catch a man’s eye and be listed as a potential long-term partner.
You’re creative
No one expects you to be the next Van Gogh, but it’s nice to know that someone you are interested in has other hobbies that are not work-related. This makes you interesting and makes men want to know more about you.
As a side note, another reason why men love women who have hobbies is that no one wants “the clinger” as Garapick puts it.
“Most men highly value their alone time, and they need to know that they won’t lose all of it if they’re in a relationship with you,” Garapick says.
You’re mysterious
Gem Villamin, dating coach, says that mystery is what keeps relationships new and exciting. Just as Garapick stated, men are natural chasers.
“They gravitate toward women who are more of listeners to them, allowing themselves to open up to her with no judgment whatsoever,” Villamin says. “She knows how to maintain the chase in a relationship, by not revealing all of her cards at once.”
You’re funny
…or at least you laugh at their jokes. One study done in 2006 showed that while “Women preferred those who produced humor for all types of relationships,” men “preferred those who were receptive to their own humor, particularly for sexual relationships.”
Essentially, the study found that men find it attractive when you laugh at their jokes — most likely because they may think you have that same type of humor.
