Toxic people drain us. They take good days and make them bad ones. They bring out the worst in us and stop us from reaching our full potential. We have all met one or many of these types before and if you haven’t, consider yourself lucky! Avoid these types of toxic people at all costs:
1. The Gossip Queen
“XOXO -Gossip Girl” was fun to watch on television, but trust us you don’t want this to be your real life. People who gossip tend to be insecure and thrive off of bringing others down. That or they are just bored. Either way, it’s best to not put yourself around these toxic types that can’t be trusted. There are too many positive and interesting people in the world to waste your time talking about the misfortune of others.
2. The Judge
Judgmental people are the types to tell you exactly what is and isn’t cool. They have a way of taking the thing you’re most passionate about and making you feel terrible about it. These types of people look down on others instead of appreciating and learning from people who are different from them. They cause you to suppress your individuality, so you’re best off without them and embracing yourself!
3. The Negative Nancy
It is amazing how easily we are influenced by negativity and positivity. A negative person can put bleak thoughts in your head that were never there in the first place. If you want to constantly be swayed into feeling gloomy or pessimistic about every topic of conversation or event then a Negative Nancy is for you. If you’d rather see the bright side of things and get surprisingly optimistic opinions then DITCH Nancy. She isn’t good for your soul. Find yourself people who ooze positivity instead!
4. “All About Me” and “Never About You”
These types of people are both self-absorbed and narcissistic. When you hang out with this type of person you tend to feel alone because they are neglecting you so much. If you tell them your problems it goes in one ear and out the other or they make it about themselves. When you need a friend they are nowhere to be found, but when they need you they demand attention. This type of person is a “swipe left” for sure.
5. The Social Media Faker
This is the type of individual that pretends to have it all together for their followers. They make posting a fake reality a priority instead of being real. This person you may never get too close to you. Unfortunately, honesty isn’t their forte, and their insecurities get the best of them.
6. Jealousy Doesn’t Look Good On Anyone
Praising someone’s accomplishments and supporting each other is a great show of character. If you say, “Wow, I’m so jealous Anne got that promotion, but she deserves it!” then that is not the type of toxic jealousy I am talking about. It’s when the grass is always greener, they don’t get satisfaction from their own accomplishments, and nothing is ever good enough for them that you should run far, far away!
