John Travolta shared a touching Mother’s Day tribute to his late wife Kelly Preston this Mother’s Day almost three years following her death in July 2020. Preston passed away at the age of 57 after battling breast cancer for two years. Travolta shares three kids with his late wife including their late son Jett, who passed in 2009 at the age of 16, Ella, 23 and Ben, 12.
Travolta, 69, shows all his family members love over social media–with multiple posts devoted to his children as well as his late wife. In June 2021 he shared a selfie alongside his daughter and son where he captioned, “Happy Father’s Day everyone! It is a privilege to be the father of these two beautiful children – thank you for the honor and my love and respect to all fathers.”
The Grease actor has not shied away from discussing hard topics with his children, including the tragic death of their mother. During a 2021 appearance on Kevin Hart’s Peacock talk show series Hart to Heart, Travolta got candid about the emotional discussion he had with Ben, who was 10 at the time.
“He said to me once, ‘Because mom passed away, I’m afraid you’re going to,'” Travolta said. He continued later, “Nobody knows when they’re gonna go or when they’re going to stay…So let’s look at it like it’s part of life. You don’t know exactly. You just do your best at trying to live the longest you can.”

According to an article by Hello Magazine, after Preston’s passing, Travolta posted a heartful tribute to her on Mother’s Day. He shared a slideshow of photos with the caption, “We love and miss you Kelly. Happy Mother’s Day.” The slideshow included home photos and memories from family vacations.
Travolta also lost his son Jett Travolta in 2009. He passed away after suffering a seizure when he was 16.
According to an article from E News, Travolta posted a tribute to his late son in April 2022 on what would have been his 30th birthday. He wrote, “My dearest Jetty, I miss you more than words can say. I think about you every day. Happy Birthday. Love, your Dad.”
Despite his tremendous losses, Travolta still has a very close relationship with his children, Ella Bleu Travolta, 22, and Benjamin Travolta, 11.
Travolta is very supportive of Ella’s acting and modeling career. According to an article published by Elle, Ella walked the catwalk at the Karl Lagerfeld show during New York Fashion Week 2022.
Travolta shared a photo on Instagram of Ella on the catwalk with the caption, “So proud of Ella’s debut at fashion week in New York City!” He also commented on one of her photos, “I’m so proud of you,” with a red heart.
Ella has also posted heartful tributes to her dad in the past. Per an Elle article, for his birthday she wrote on Instagram, “Happy Birthday to my role model, my best friend, the person who has taught me one of the most valuable lessons in life, kindness. I love you with all my heart, Daddy.”
According to an article by E News, Travolta usually keeps his youngest child Ben out of the public eye. However, he did post for his son’s 11th birthday in November 2021. He wrote in the caption, “Happy birthday my beautiful boy. Your dad adores you.”
