Kate Hudson is getting real about her former relationships.
On an episode of the podcast Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi that was released Tuesday, Hudson spoke out on two of her past relationships: her marriage to Chris Robinson and engagement to Matt Bellamy.
“As hard as the decisions were in my life, and the depth in which I felt like I had failed relationships and family, with my partners throughout those years — whether it be Chris or Matt — I knew it was the right thing to not be in those relationships. I knew that we’d all be happier.”
Robinson and Hudson married when Hudson was only 21-year-old. The two have a son, 19-year-old Ryder Robinson, who recently broke it off with Iris Apatow, the daughter of Judd Apatow. Despite Hudson and Robinson moving on from each other in October of 2007, there seems to be no love lost between the co-parents.
She told the podcast You’re Doing Fine… Just Keep Going, “People thought it was impulsive, but it was more like I was just like, ‘You know what? I’m just going to dive right into this. I’m not gonna second guess it. I’m in love with him. I’m not gonna pretend like, ‘Oh, we should wait.’ I’m madly in love and I want to marry him and so I just didn’t think twice. And I’m kind of still like that except with a little more wisdom under my belt.”
Her engagement to Matt Bellamy lasted from 2011 to 2014, and gave the couple a son, Bingham. Sources report that the two co-parents are still dear friends, a fact that Hudson elaborated upon; “I’m so grateful for the family that I have, and the relationships that I have. I’m so close with my ex, Matt, Bing’s dad. Like, I love him so much, and [we’re] exactly where we were supposed to be, you know? I think he feels the same way about me.”
Now, Hudson is engaged again, this time to Danny Fujikawa. The two share a daughter, Rani. The couple are planning a traditional Japanese ceremony, to honor Fujikawa’s heritage and late father.
