With Todd and Julie Chrisley serving their sentences in federal prison for tax and bank fraud, their daughter, Savannah, is discussing the likelihood of a new reality TV show being in the works that revolves around the Chrisley kids and how they’re moving on in their lives.
Savannah was accompanied by Todd’s mother – her grandmother – Nanny Faye, as well as her niece, Chloe – who she is looking after while her parents are in prison – on the latest episode of her podcast, Unlocked.
The oldest Chrisley daughter hinted at the idea that a new reality TV show for their family could be in the works sooner rather than later, saying, “Well, you do know, we’re talking to a few production companies about doing another show,” adding that “tons of production companies have reached out and networks that want to do a show.”
Nanny Faye responded, “I’m ready to go work. I’m ready to walk down that highway any day…I’m ready,” joking that a possible title could be, “Bounce Back Chrisleys”.
“At the end of the day, we’re not going to allow this to stop us from moving forward,” Savannah added.
Faye agreed, saying, “The sun’s gonna come up, and the sun’s gonna come down. We have no control over it. What we have control is we’re gonna get up and dust our pants off today and get to going. And we’re gonna let the world see that we’re really who we were. We love each other, we’re gonna walk this walk and talk this talk.”
Todd and Julie Chrisley were sentenced to a combined 19 years in federal prison for conspiring to commit fraud against Atlanta community banks to obtain over $30 million in personal loans and submitting false documents to get said money. Their incarceration began earlier this year as they continue to try and appeal their sentences.
While their 10-season-long reality show, Chrisley Knows Best, followed the family on a daily basis, Savannah says they seldomly were able to express their own opinions.
“It became more of a comedy than it was reality,” she said, while admitting that it was still a fun experience. “We had fun doing it because we all got to work together, so we got to be around each other.”
If they are to score a new television program, Savannah hopes they’ll have more freedom to talk about what they want to talk about, especially regarding how they’re coping with their parents’ prison sentences.
“We’re going to touch on where we’re at today, Mom and Dad being gone, how we’re coping with it, how we get through it. Also, too, having two kids and all of us stepping in to make sure that they have what they need emotionally, psychologically, physically, all the things, I feel like there’s a level of humor to it as well.”
Savannah has recently taken the responsibility to raise her niece Chloe, 10, and brother Grayson, 16, who were previously under the care of her father, Todd.
As for the tone shift in the potential new reality show, Savannah says it “will be heartwarming. It’ll break your heart, you’ll laugh…”
