There have been many infamous Hollywood feuds, but the tongue-in-cheek feud between Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep stands apart.
When Sandra Bullock was contending for her first Oscar for “The Blind Side”, she was running against two-time winner, Meryl Streep. Bullock won the award and Streep—get this—sent Bullock a bouquet of flowers. And from there, well, we’ll let Bullock explain:
“And up comes this nice bottom part [motions in the shape of a flower pot] with, like, three dead orchids on it,” she told Graham Norton. Beside the dead orchids was a note that read, “Die, bitch. Love, Meryl”.
Bullock, not to be outdone by her counterpart, decided to get one over on Streep.
“It was no holds barred. I had to take Meryl down,” she said.
Bullock and Streep joint-presented an award for the Critic’s Choice Awards that season. While onstage,
Bullock pretended to be annoyed at being paired with Streep, and then leaned in to give Streep a kiss.
Best of all, Bullock has no regrets! When telling the story to Norton, he asked,
“What was the award show when you locked lips?”, to which she answered, “You mean where she asked for it?”
