June “Mama June” Shannon is speaking out about her eldest daughter’s, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell’s diagnosis with stage four adrenal carcinoma, a “very rare and very aggressive” form of cancer.
Considering the reality of this particular diagnosis, June has spoken about how it’s falling to her to council her daughter on “the endgame.”
“There’s days where I don’t know [whether] to scream, get mad, or be happy,” she says. “As her mom, we’ve had talks you don’t want to have with your child. We know what the endgame is and we are prepared for that. You’re never prepared, but we know what could happen. Her children know about it, the 10-year-old more than the 7-year-old.”
Anna’s illness will be covered in the next season of “Mama June: Family Crisis”, which airs today. Anna is having scans to see how her disease is progressing tomorrow and should receive the results of those scans on May 9th.
Our hearts and minds go out to the Caldwell and Shannon families in this difficult time. We will provide updates to this story as they are made available.
