In a heartbreaking conclusion to the search for missing teenager Katherine Schneider, her mother has confirmed that human remains found near Castle Rock Park belong to her daughter. The news was shared amidst an ongoing investigation by the Santa Clara County medical examiner into the identity of the person who was found in some car wreckage near a ravine in Castle Rock State Park.
Schneider, a 17-year-old from Saratoga, went missing from her home on July 5. She was last seen leaving her residence in a white 2019 Honda Accord. Sheriff’s deputies found the unoccupied car on August 7 on Skyline Boulevard, near Castle Rock State Park.
The news of Schneider’s death has shocked and devastated her loved ones. In a statement on Instagram, her mother described her daughter as “a bright light that brought emotional vibrancy to our everyday lives.” Schneider was known for her authenticity, thoughtfulness, sense of humor, and unyielding determination. She will be deeply missed.
