Suzanne Somers left behind her husband, her two step-children, and her son, Bruce Jr. Bruce and Suzanne had a close relationship, however, when asked about her biggest regret in 2012, Suzanne didn’t mince words:
“That as a single teenage mother with no child support, I had to spend time away from my son looking for work.”
Suzanne had Bruce at 19, shortly before her career would take off. Though she regretted not spending more time with Bruce in his early childhood, he felt nothing but devotion to his mother.
“She protected those who didn’t have a voice. She asked the questions most didn’t know to ask,” he wrote, after her passing. “She shared her challenges and brought light to solutions. To so many she was a brave warrior who articulated their fears. She wasn’t fearless, but she faced them so we could learn.
“She was a friend, a wife, a sister, a daughter, an entertainer, an icon, and a legend. But to me, she was just Mom,” he continued. “I had the privilege as the only person who could call her that. Growing up, it was us against the world. And then she took the world by storm.”
