Hello all:
I read an article that started off by saying, “The Betty White Phenomenon: Why Her, Why Now?” And indeed, why now? I do not think she saw this coming, but I bet she is having a heck of a time with all the attention these days. Who would have thought that Betty White would be laughing all the way to the bank in 2010.
I remember Ms. White when I was a teenager in the “Betty White Show.” And who could forget her in the “Golden Girls.” Ms. White’s concise self-history depicts a life of hard work in radio advertising and movies. Everywhere you look these days she is popping up on the screen. And yes, she was the oldest person to ever host Saturday Night Live due in part by a campaign on Facebook garnering over 500,000 fans. Apparently, this entire resurgence of Betty White started with her all so funny appearance on Comedy Central when she roasted William Shatner and as the “heart attack faking granny” in the movie, “The Proposal” with Sandra Bullock.
At 88 years old, she has been the most talked about octogenarian this year. And believe it or not, all this buzz is coming from the younger generation. She has brought a lot of us back to the days when people were appreciated no matter what their age. She makes us laugh, and one article referred to her as being hip, cool and having a youthful soul.” What a compliment!!! All I can say is, when you are hot, you are hot. And right now that describes Betty White.
Wonder where she will appear next….. how about “Dancing With the Stars.” Don’t laugh, it could happen!!!
