How you start your morning can have a major impact on the rest of the day. What little things can you do in the morning to make your whole day great?
Give yourself an extra 5 minutes
Taking your time in the morning will put you in a better mood than rushing will. You can take this time to give thanks for another day, mediate, or even keep sleeping. What is important is that you take time for yourself to breathe and relax.
Good food puts you in a good mood
It doesn’t have to be a big breakfast; it can be coffee, water, tea or a healthy smoothie. Having a morning ritual of enjoying something that tastes yummy can instantly turn your mood around. This is especially helpful if you wake up in a bad mood.
Expanding the mind
It’s time to get your mind ready for the day. No TV. No Phone. No Social Media. Read, Draw or Listen to music. It’s hard to start your day if your mind is still sleeping, so it’s important to do activities to wake you up mentally.
Journal your gratitude
Acknowledging things you are thankful for is imperative to a positive mood. Just because there is bad mixed in with the good doesn’t mean the good is suddenly irrelevant – remind yourself of this and shake off any negativity. Write down what you are thankful for first, instead of jump-starting your day with a to-do list.
Turn yesterday’s failures into today’s successes
Whatever happened yesterday that made you upset doesn’t matter today. Whatever didn’t go your way, or whatever failed does not define you. Remind yourself that you have all the power to turn today into your best day. If you dwell on yesterday’s negative attitude, you will never accomplish a positive one today. It’s easier said than done, but something as small as deciding to try again can brighten your mood and the rest of your day.
Map out what you want to accomplish today
Choose what you want to get done today. Having a short list of things you want to accomplish will give you a reason to be productive. It doesn’t have to be long, but personal goals can make you more determined to do things for yourself throughout the day. And besides, who doesn’t feel happier once they’ve accomplished all the tasks they’ve set aside for the day?
