To be alone is one thing, to be lonely is another. Loneliness can make you feel empty inside, and it’s easy to try to fill yourself up rather than to stay and deal with those feelings. But often, the alternative is worse than feeling very uncomfortable. Here are three reasons why you should stay with these feelings.
- Fake people are seductive – They don’t genuinely care for you. They might say certain things but won’t deliver. That can make you feel really crazy. At least when you have the courage to feel your loneliness, you know where you stand.
- Fake people are a distraction – They waste your time with trivial things that don’t amount to anything. When you’re feeling lonely, you still have the ability to create personal new goals for yourself and follow through. You have the ability to use this time toward improving yourself as well as your other relationships.
3. Fake people are demeaning – When you’re feeling vulnerable and lonely, the last thing you want to do is surround yourself with people who don’t care—people who are more interested in getting their own needs met. They’ll lie to you in order to do that. An empty relationship will only make you feel lonelier inside.
