Ann Herford, a 66-year-old travelling nurse, has been missing since Nov. 14th, after setting out on a California hiking trail.
“Our hearts went into our gut and we were starting to get really scared,” Anna Wettengel, a friend of Anne, told local news. “I mean, knowing that she’s not from here, she’s visiting, we didn’t know that she didn’t know the area. We’re trying to still remain positive and we’re just praying and hoping that she is okay and safe, and then she’ll be able to come home.”
Ann notified a friend of her intention to hike the Arnold Rim Trail in Calaveras County on Nov. 11th, but it wasn’t until she failed to appear at work, three days later, when authorities were notified.
38 individuals have participated in the search and rescue mission, though Herford’s family says she “lacked wilderness survival skills.”
