After a social media hiatus, Adele has returned to Instagram with a vengeance. The singer broke the internet Wednesday morning by sharing a picture to mark her 32nd birthday.
Adele has not posted on the social media platform since December. She stood beaming within the loop of a giant floral wreath. She was wearing a black mini dress with billowing sleeves, she wore her blonde hair down and completed the look with black heels.
“Thank you for the birthday love. I hope you’re all staying safe and sane during this crazy time,” the mother-of-one told her 33.7 million followers.
She even took the opportunity to praise the work of front-line health care staff during the coronavirus pandemic. “I’d like to thank all of our first responders and essential workers who are keeping us safe while risking their lives! You are truly our angels,” she wrote in the picture caption.
Users took to twitter to mention how “shook” they were by the big reveal. It even ignited a debate in some users who were upset that her weight loss was gaining attention. They claim that she is just as talented as she was before and we shouldn’t forget that.
Adele was soon bombarded messages of support from fans and fellow celebrities, with Sports Illustrated model Chrissy Teigen writing: “I mean are you kidding me.”
Rita Wilson commented on the post, writing: “Happy Birthday, Adele. Sending you so much love! Looking gorgeous!”
Last year Adele embraced self-love while celebrating her birthday and wrote on that Instagram “30 tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean into it all.”
She may have been referencing her breakup with her husband with that post.
Last year she announced that she and Simon Konecki had split after three years of marriage. The singer and Konecki have a son together, Angelo, who was born in 2012.
Adele usually keeps her life private but did leave us one clue last year. While not directly addressing her weight loss, she wrote in her an Instagram post in October last year: “I used to cry but now I sweat.”
