Alexis Ohanian, founder of Reddit and husband to tennis great, Serena Williams, has no patience for people who critique Williams’ body.
Williams is widely regarded as the greatest player to ever touch the sport, from either gender. Her storied career started when the 41-year-old athlete was still a child, and so she has been under the radar of the public her entire life. Following, she often has to field questions about her age, gender, and skill-set, with fellow tennis-player, Ion Tiriac, suggested Williams’ was past her prime.
“At this age and the weight she is now, she does not move as easily as she did 15 years ago,” Țiriac, 81, said. “Serena was a sensational player. If she had a little decency, she would retire. From all points of view.”
Ohanian was quick to rush to his wife’s defense, tweeting the following:
He would later write, “had to Google it… turns out my 3-year-old has more Grand Slam victories than this 🤡 🤡”.
Ohanian is not shy to call-out people who are insulting Williams’, saying:
“2021 and no holding back when a racist/sexist clown with a platform comes for my family. When someone shows you who they are, believe them.”
