Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s legal battle continues to escalate, with new court documents revealing shocking claims made by Jolie’s former investment company Nouvel against Pitt. In a recent court filing, Nouvel accused Pitt of being a “petulant child” and engaging in a “vindictive campaign to dominate and loot the wine business” that the couple had built and owned together.
The filing claims that Pitt’s investment company, Mondo Bongo, has the same 50 percent ownership of Château Miraval as Nouvel. However, Pitt has allegedly been using his power to “strip” and “loot” the assets of the French winery and estate that they bought a controlling stake in back in 2008. The filing further accuses Pitt of wasting millions of dollars on “vanity projects,” such as renovating a swimming pool and rebuilding a staircase four times.
Jolie’s lawyers also claim that Pitt’s alcoholism directly led to the breakdown of their marriage. Pitt admitted in a revealing interview with GQ Style that he had been “boozing too much” and that “it’s just become a problem.” He added that he had stopped everything except boozing when he started his family, but he had to step away for a minute and realized he could drink a Russian under the table with his own vodka.
The legal dispute between the former couple started with a lawsuit filed by Pitt in 2022, claiming Jolie’s sale of her half of the winery to the Stoli Group went against an agreement they’d made about not selling without getting approval from the other. Jolie countersued, claiming that there was never any such agreement and that she sold her portion of the winery in an effort to have “financial independence” from Pitt and to “have some form of peace and closure to this deeply painful and traumatic chapter of her and their children’s lives.”
Nouvel is seeking at least $350 million in damages from Pitt and his investment company. Jolie’s legal team has called Pitt’s behavior “unlawful,” and the legal battle over the winery is far from over. Stay tuned for more updates on this ongoing saga.
