Taylor Swift is opening up about a difficult situation with Kim Kardashian, which she says “felt like career death.”
In order to fully understand this spat, we need to go backwards. Most people are aware that Kanye West interrupted Swift’s VMA speech in 2009, causing a bit of bad blood. (Pun intended.) Years later, West reached out to Swift, asking her to approve song lyrics that would reference her in his upcoming song ‘Famous’.
Swift claims the lyrics that actually appear in the song were not the lyrics she approved. The verse that West raps in ‘Famous’ goes, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous.”
When Swift publicly announced that she was unhappy with the lyrics, Kim Kardashian posted a phone call that Swift says was illegally recorded, which apparently shows her agreeing to the reference.
“You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar,” Swift said, in a new interview.
“That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard.”
Swift claims Kardashian “has yet to apologize” and is seeking a public apology.
