Before he became the lovable goof on “Friends”, Matt LeBlanc was almost out on the streets. During a 2019 interview on “Conan,” LeBlanc described his situation before landing the pivotal role on the hit sitcom.
“I had, I think, I was down to $11,” the actor, 51, said of his bank account before landing the part.
“That’s holding out too long. Because even if I said at that point, ‘All right, I’m going to go get a waiter job,’ by the time that $11 ran out, it would have been before the first paycheck on that job. I would have starved.”
LeBlanc also undertook his own dental work to save money. During one of his headshot sessions, his photograph revealed that LeBlanc’s teeth were uneven and suggested the actor go get his teeth filed. But what did LeBlanc do? Went to the drugstore and picked up some emery files.
“I’m very frugal,” he said.
Recently LeBlanc has been back in the public eye following the death of his costar Matthew Perry. LeBlanc along with the other surviving “Friends” castmates released a statement following the heartbreaking announcement.
“We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”
They added, “For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
