Carrie Underwood might have the country glamour life of our dreams, but she has had her own struggles, including infertility. Infertility is an issue impacting tons of trying mothers every year and even celebrities are no different.
Underwood and her husband Mike Fisher welcomed their second child, Jacob, after a long fought battle with conception issues. Following the birth of their son Fisher posted a photo to Instagram of the newborn swaddled on his chest.
“The last few years has has [sic] had its challenges and it makes this moment even more sweet! We didn’t know if Izzy would ever have another sibling but we learned through it all that God is in control and his timing is perfect! He is good all the time even in difficult times that are hard to understand. #grateful #miraclebaby.”
A year later on Jacob’s birthday, Underwood shared her own praise for their miracle child. “I can’t wait to see your personality continue to shine! I have a good feeling you’re going to keep us all on our toes for years to come!” she continued. “I thank God for you each and every day. You are truly our miracle baby!!! Mommy loves you!”
The couple already had another son at the time of Jacob’s birthday. Isaiah is currently 8.
In 2021, USWeekly reported on Underwood’s struggles with having her second son.
“I had always been afraid to be angry. Because we are so blessed. … I’m like, ‘If we can never have any other kids, that’s OK, because [Isaiah] is amazing.’ And I have this amazing life. Like, really, what can I complain about? I can’t. I have an incredible husband, incredible friends, an incredible job, an incredible kid. Can I be mad? No,” Underwood said while emotional.
“I got mad. … I was like, ‘Why on Earth do I keep getting pregnant if I can’t have a kid? Like, what is this? Shut the door. Like, do something. Either shut the door or let me have a kid.’ And for the first time, I feel like I actually I told God how I felt.”
