Claire Danes and her husband, “Law and Order” actor, Hugh Dancy, have recently announced that they are pregnant with their third child. The couple have been together since 2006, with Danes recalling:
“I was very recently single, and I had never been single before, so we were just friends for a while. [Hugh and I] met in Rhode Island when it was at its most audaciously beautiful, in the fall. And there was one day when we were bicycling by the water and it was sparkly and idyllic, and I just had this dumb epiphany, like, ‘I’m really just happy.’ “
They had a short engagement and were married in 2009.
This latest pregnancy was admittedly accidental: “Eek, I know. Number three. Prego. This one was not intentional. But here we go! I have Cyrus, he’s 10 and Rowan is 4, and this one, yeah. Evenly spaced, but a broad spectrum. We’re excited, we’re thrilled.”
The two are deeply in love and deeply attracted to one and other, with Danes saying, “It’s true that you often kind of forget to see the person you’re most intimate with, but occasionally I’ll come to and sort of think, ‘Oh my God! You’re really really good-looking! I’m embarrassed now! It’s nice to occasionally have that flash.”
Lately, the pair have been apart, according to both of their work schedules, but they value their time together. “That distance is corrosive, and I’m just bad at it. And I don’t particularly want to get good at it. We learned along the way how essential it is for us to be physically together as often as possible.”
