Nicole Kidman’s life has been filled with ups and downs, both professionally and personally. But throughout it all, one thing has remained constant: her unwavering faith in God.
In a 2019 interview with Variety, Kidman revealed that her religious beliefs have played a significant role in her life, both as a child and as an adult. She was raised Catholic by her grandmother and has continued to practice her faith throughout her life.
However, Kidman’s spiritual journey has not always been easy. When she was married to Tom Cruise, she struggled with his devotion to Scientology. According to Kidman, she tried to be supportive of his beliefs, but ultimately found it difficult to reconcile her own faith with the teachings of Scientology.
Despite the challenges she faced, Kidman remained steadfast in her own beliefs and eventually found solace in her marriage to country singer Keith Urban. Together, they have raised their two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, in a Christian household.
“They don’t have a phone and I don’t allow them to have an Instagram,” Kidman said, according to USA Today. “I try to keep some sort of boundaries.”
In addition to setting boundaries around technology, Kidman and Urban have also instilled their faith in their children. They attend church regularly as a family and Kidman has said that her religious beliefs help her to stay grounded and focused.
“I wouldn’t say it’s absolutism, there’s constant questioning – I’m a willful, feisty girl,” Kidman said. “For me it’s very important that I don’t have judgment. My dad would always say, ‘Tolerance is the most important thing.’”
Despite the challenges she has faced on her spiritual journey, Kidman is a living testament to what it means to be committed to her faith and to raising her children in a household that values kindness, compassion, and understanding.
