Dick Van Dyke, the iconic superstar known for his role in Mary Poppins, has decided to share his own “spoonful of sugar.” The 97-year-old actor was spotted in Malibu handing out cash to homeless people on the streets. According to a Daily Mail article, Van Dyke said that whenever he has five dollar bills, he takes them out to those in need but that it’s not an everyday occurrence.
Van Dyke visited the Malibu Community Labor Exchange in Malibu, CA. The center is a “community-created not for profit organization that provides an organized and supportive place for the people of Malibu to hire and be hired,” according to the official website. “Just call him an angel from God,” an employee at the center said.
In addition to handing out money to the homeless Van Dyke has been reported to be handing out money to family and friends as well. According to close sources, all those close to Van Dyke have to do to receive some cash is ask.
“He’s got more than enough money and he’d rather share it while he’s alive,” the insider added.
