UPDATE 01/04/2024: In an upcoming interview with People, Kelly Clarkson admitted that she “never wanted to get married.”
“[Brandon] had children, a religious background, and it was important, I think, for him. But I’ve never been that person. Because I’ve been through a couple divorces in my family, I just don’t like to put any weight on it. It can happen; it doesn’t have to happen. For my kids, I definitely would never even think about it until they’re out of my house.”
ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Kelly Clarkson says that her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, told her that the network did not want her on ‘The Voice’, stating that she wasn’t attractive enough to fill the role.
Blackstock regaled that the network was “looking for a more sex symbol type” and wanted “diversity”, suggesting Rihanna. Clarkson was only hired after Blackstock threatened that she would join the judging panel of the rival show ‘American Idol’.
“Well, a wife doesn’t forget a time she gets told she’s not a sex symbol, so that stays,” Clarkson told her lawyer, according to court documents.
