Graham Nash, member of the group Crosby, Stills, and Nash, has announced that his longtime collaborator, David Crosby, was battling COVID-19 when he passed away, at the age of 81 years old. Nash explained further on the podcast, “Kyle Meredith, With…”, saying,
“He was rehearsing for a show to do in Los Angeles with a full band. After three days of rehearsals, he felt a little sick. And he’d already had COVID, and he had COVID again. And so he went home and decided that he would take a nap, and he never woke up. But he died in his bed, and that is fantastic.”
In the initial public statement made by Crosby’s wife, Jan Dance, said that the star had passed “after a long illness”, without elaborating on what kind of illness. Crosby had previously contracted COVID-19, telling Variety,
““COVID is a very weird disease. It makes you feel absolutely freaking awful. It has been thoroughly unpleasant … it’s no fun at all,” he said. “You want to avoid it if you possibly can.”
Nash went on to explain what a special bond they formed and said that his bandmate “had a good life”. During the interview, he mentioned that most people, “expected David to pass 20 years ago, the fact that he made it to 81 was astonishing.”
