You know how Josh Holloway reveals those adorable dimples on his cheeks when he smiles? Well, that’s basically what our thighs do when they exhibit that dimple-ridden cellulite. As cute as they both are, though, I think our lower extremities would submit to giving Mr. Holloway the “dimple spotlight” of the summer.
While this skin condition might be frustrating, it’s important to note that having it does not say anything about your overall health—you are completely normal and in the same boat as more than 85% of women worldwide.
With that being said, wanting to get rid of cellulite for aesthetic reasons is completely fine too.
Endermologie
When fat cells protrude into the skin, they cause a lumpy, dimpled appearance we know as cellulite. Endermologie is a non-surgical procedure approved by the FDA that reduces this look by rolling and manipulating fat tissue.
During treatment, a trained technician will use a handheld massaging device on each affected area for about 40 minutes for between one to two sessions per week.
The vacuum cup
This product works by deeply stimulating circulation and dissolving fat deposits that cause skin dimples. Guide the cup over your affected area, and you will feel it drawing your skin into its vacuum.
Bioactive collagen peptides
In a study published by the Journal of Medicinal Food, researchers determined that this oral supplement (BCP) had a marked improvement on the appearance of cellulite after 90 days of use.
This kind of treatment also enhances firmness and elasticity of skin from the inside.
Acoustic wave therapy
This is an out-patient treatment in which a device is used to deliver acoustic waves to affected areas. These waves create vibrations that impact the underlying connective tissue in a way that reduces cellulite.
Acoustic wave therapy also stimulates collagen production, improves elasticity, and smooths the skin.
Laser treatment
For a more surefire (and expensive) solution to your cellulite, try this minimally-invasive treatment. Your dermatologist will use a needle-sized device to target individual dimples on the skin, which will smooth it out significantly. Results are clinically proven to improve the appearance of your skin for at least two years.
