Glennis Smith, 48, appeared in court this week after being accused of murdering his wife, Jennifer Smith-Floyd, 49, by poisoning her with fentanyl.
The ensuing investigation from the Elk Grove Police Department found that “evidence revealed the presence of fentanyl in Smith-Floyd’s system.” They also claim that “Smith had intentionally put fentanyl in Smith-Floyd’s food on two occasions without her knowledge.”
A statement from the police department read, in part: “The couple had been married for five years but had been living apart for several months prior to the incident. […] Fire personnel and officers responded to their residence but where Smith had been predominately living and rendered medical aid; however, Smith-Floyd was pronounced deceased.”
Upon hearing the news that her best-friend had passed, Dorie Suathojame said. “The first thought that I had was that he did it. She was just an amazing person.”
Smith is currently being held without bond.
