A 92-year-old man has been found alive after spending a night lost in sub-freezing temperatures in Oregon.
Larry Henderickson was driving from Washington to Arizona, following his wife, Shirley, who was driving a U-Haul truck. Shirley pulled over “somewhere around Baker City in northeastern Oregon” to inspect the truck’s tires, while Larry continued down the road to find a tire shop.
Shirley had both of the couple’s cell phones. When the tire was fixed several hours later, she continued on the trip without her husband, assuming he had gone home ahead. A day later, when Larry was still not home, Shirley called the police.
Henderickson was found “conscious and breathing”, though he had exited the vehicle and fell down an embankment.
“He’s suffering from the effects of the hypothermia. He can’t walk very well; everything hurts,” Shirley said. She added that “it’s a miracle that he made it,” being that “he’s 92 years old.”
