Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have a twist in their marriage that keeps them together–they’ve opened it!
While many will remember Jada’s “entanglement” with rapper, August Alsina, fewer will remember Will’s response. As it seems, Jada did not cheat on Will, but they rather pursue separate relationships, outside of their marriage.
“Jada never believed in conventional marriage. Jada had family members that had an unconventional relationship. So she grew up in a way that was very different than how I grew up. There were significant, endless discussions about ‘What is relational perfection? What is the perfect way to interact as a couple?’ And for the large part of our relationship, monogamy was what we chose, not thinking of monogamy as the only relational perfection.
“We have given each other trust and freedom, with the belief that everybody has to find their own way. And marriage for us can’t be a prison. And I don’t suggest our road for anybody. I don’t suggest this road for anybody. [..] But the experiences that the freedoms we’ve given one another… and the unconditional support, to me, is the highest definition of love.”
Sources inside the family have agreed, stating:
“Things have been talked out between the two and, at the end of the day, they do care for each other. Even before the love, there is a solid friendship, a strong foundation. They could easily get a divorce but for what? What would that prove? At least they are honest with each other, which is something that a lot of married couples cannot say. People cheat all day long, especially married couples. Every marriage works differently — you just happen to know their business because they are public figures.”
