Sometimes people just know that they’re meant to be with someone and all the milestones in life that they reach together are just things that were destined to happen, like moving in together, having children, and even getting married.
And so, they don’t need to have a big fancy wedding to know that their love is going to last.
That’s exactly the case for Jessica Alba and her husband of 15 years Cash Warren.
The two met while Alba was working for the 2004 film Fantastic Four and Warren was the director’s assistant. Warren was instructed to photograph Alba wearing different contact lenses, and instantly they shared a mutual bond.
“I just knew when I met him that I was going to know him forever. It was weird; He instantly felt like family,” Jessica told InStyle in 2013. “I’d never felt like that with anyone. We got each other. We’re kindred spirits.”
Shortly after their meeting, they began dating. Fast forward three years and the couple got engaged after they revealed they’d be expecting their first child by the following summer.
But a month before their baby was due, they just couldn’t wait any longer to be husband and wife and simply decided to marry in a Beverly Hills courthouse one morning, suggesting the idea to each other as if they were trying to figure out where to go for breakfast. Although, that was also part of the discussion.
“We eloped and I think I was nine months pregnant! It wasn’t planned,” she told Glamour UK last July. “It was literally, ‘Honey, do you have anything to do this morning?’ And he was like, ‘No.’ So I said, ‘Should we go to the courthouse and get married?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah.’ And then I said, ‘Can we get waffles afterwards because I have a doctor’s appointment? Will you come to my doctor’s appointment?’ And that’s how it happened!”
Warren also talked about their beautifully lazy wedding day in an Instagram post celebrating the couple’s 11th anniversary.
“We were laying in bed having one of those amazing lazy mornings where we’d do nothing,” he wrote in the caption. “Not sure who thought of it first but the decision we made that day would forever change the course of our lives. We hopped up, got dressed and drove straight to the courthouse. Prior to that day, neither of us thought marriage was important…it felt outdated and we weren’t going to fall for an antiquated social construction. But something changed in us that morning.”
Warren added that the wedding was “laughably awkward” and the courthouse chapel had “dusty plastic flowers”, but that didn’t matter to them. They left the chapel holding hands and “giggling with excitement” as he held the car door open for her, calling her, for the first time, “Mrs. Warren”.
Today, they have turned their love into a family of five, with their two daughters Honor and Haven, and son Hayes. Both Jessica and Cash share inside their family life frequently on their social media pages, giving birthday shoutouts and posting pictures of them with their children.
