Katy Perry is being sued for the second time by Australian fashion designer, Katie Perry, over the copyright to their name.
Katy Perry, who was born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, has filed an appeal after losing her initial ruling to Katie Perry in April. Perry and Perry – who now goes by Katie Taylor – first crossed paths in 2009, when Taylor said Perry began disregarding her copyright on the name and began selling merchandise.
“They stated that I should immediately stop trading under this name,” Taylor wrote. “Withdraw all my clothes and sign a document drafted by them to say from now on I will never trade under this name ever again.”
Taylor has referred to this legal debacle as a “David and Goliath case” and is hopeful that her initial copyright will be upheld.
