Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, has been ordered to pay her $2.6 million, on the grounds that he overcharged her for “unlawfully procured” business deals, while serving as her manager.
“Under the Talent Agencies Act (TAA), a manager, like any person without a talent agency license, cannot procure or attempt to procure employment for artists,” the ruling stated, saying Blackstock owed Clarkson $2,641,374 for “overstepping” on deals that ought to be conducted through Clarkson’s talent agency.
The repaid money will compensate for commissions Blackstock should not have received.
