Athenna Crosby, a friend of Matthew Perry who had dinner with him shortly before his death, is debunking rumors that Perry’s last Instagram posts were a “cry for help”.
Perry posted several strange images and videos leading up to his passing, where he referred to himself as “Mattman”, which Crosby said is likely because he was fond of the character, noting that he called his car “the batmobile”. Still, the odd images and captions tell an interesting story.

Later posts offered questions to his followers like “do you know what I mean?” and “do you understand what I’m trying to tell you?”:
His final post, a photo from inside his hot tub, came with the caption: “Oh, so warm water swirling around you makes you feel good? I’m Mattman.”
People’s Editor-in-Chief, Wendy Naugle, said “he was writing a little script, that’s where the ‘Mattman’ reference comes from in his Instagram.”
