Camille Gottlieb, the 24-year-old often referred to as “Monaco’s pride”, has a famous family tree.
Her grandmother was Princess Grace of Monaco. Gottlieb is the daughter of Princess Stephanie, Grace Kelly’s youngest daughter, and Jean Raymond Gottlieb. At the time of her birth, Gottlieb was Princess Stephanie’s security guard and was unlisted from Camille’s birth certificate. As her parents were unmarried at the time of her birth, Camille is disqualified from the line of succession.
She told Point de Vue, “Without them [her parents], I could not live. They did not stay together very long, but they always said to me, ‘We have desired you, and our happiness is that you are here.’”
At three years old, her mother took her and her step-siblings to live with a travelling circus, as her boyfriend was working as an elephant tamer. Like her grandmother, Gottlieb loves animals; especially dogs, which she owns no less than five of. Grace Kelly famously took her two dogs—a poodle and a Great Dane—with her when she moved to Monaco.
Now, Camille spends her time working with her NGO, Be Safe Monaco.
After a friend passed in a scooter accident, she began the charity to help eliminate drunk driving, by giving free breathalyzer tests and rides home for young Monégasque who have been drinking.
