Meryl Streep is setting the tone for the winter as she debuts her new white hair. While at the Princess of Asturias Awards she garnered a new icy look in place of her typical honey-blonde. While subtle, it surely made her more radiant than ever. Streep, 74, donned a black blazer, a red-printed shirt, and some thick framed glasses that matched her blazer.
Streep’s debut echoes that of Jane Fonda’s gray reveal at the 2020 Academy Awards. The same hairstyle that did Fonda’s pixie cut also helped Sharon Osburne rock her own gray hair. Jack Martin, the hairstylist, has made a name for himself with his magical gray touch with over 800k followers.
Other notable female celebrities who are rocking their natural aging hair include Rita Moreno, Nichelle Nichols, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Moreno and Curtis both have expressed their love for their graying hair and what motivated them to make the jump.
In 2017, the West Side Story star told PEOPLE that her hair was an honor. “I’m so damn lucky to still be here at 85. If I get a hangnail, I don’t dare complain! Life is good. I wake up humming.”
Likewise in 2017, Curtis sat down with Everyday Health where she described the moment she woke up from the anti-gray train. “The epiphany came when I was sitting in a hair salon thinking, ‘What the eff am I doing putting a chemical on my head that burns?’ ” she said.
Grey hair is something all women should rock as it’s a sign of maturity and aging is a beautiful process. Not only is it a symbol of honor, but rocking the silver style also will save you money as you no longer have to go to the salon for your biweekly root touch up.
