After Taylor Swift and her boyfriend of six years, Joe Alywn, announced their breakup, Nick Cannon took to The Howard Stern Show with some interesting comments.
When asked by Stern if he would be willing to have his 13th baby with the popstar, he responded,
“Absolutely, I’m in. Let’s go. That’s the one. I’m all in. First of all, she’s an amazing songwriter. And what I do love about Taylor Swift is the fact that she has been so vulnerable and open with all of her music since a young girl.”
Notably, “13” is a meaningful number for Swift, who often draws a “13” on her wrist, before taking the stage. While his initial comments may have been complementary, he landed on a touchy subject for Swift and her fans:
“And she’s kinda like me. Me and Taylor’s numbers is very similar, where we’re talking about being in these streets. So I think she would relate to me very well, based off of like, you’ve dated a lot of people in the public eye. So have I. So we probably would really understand each other.”
Swift, being in the public eye since childhood, has had various high-profile relationships over the course of her nearly two-decade career. The content of these relationships often leaks into her songwriting. That, paired with the fact that every move she makes warrants a press release, means that her search for love is an industry in and of itself.
While Cannon believes that the two may be able to bond over their shared—forgive the pun!—“reputations”, Swift’s fans seem to disagree. Shortly after Cannon made these comments, #STAYAWAYFROMHER began to trend on Twitter, with people tweeting reprimands to Cannon.
