Actor and television host Nick Cannon opened up to fans with tragic news on Tuesday’s episode of his talk show.
“Over the weekend I lost my youngest son to a condition called hydrocephalus that was pretty much a malignant, invasive midline brain tumor, brain cancer,” an emotional Cannon told his audience. “It’s tough.”
Five-month-old Zen was Cannon’s child with model Alyssa Scott. Zen is survived by six other children from Cannon’s other relationships.
Hydrocephalus is defined by Mayoclinic.org as “the buildup of fluid in the cavities (ventricles) deep within the brain. The excess fluid increases the size of the ventricles and puts pressure on the brain.”
Cannon shared that he spent this past weekend with his son in California.
“Not only did we get to see the sun rise, we got to see the sun set,” he said of his final days with Zen.
“I didn’t know how I was going to handle today. But I wanted to grieve with my family.”
