Most of us are familiar with our astrological signs (I see you, Capricorns), but how well do you know about your numerological ones? If you’re scratching your head, allow me to further explain.
Growing up, I was always taking cheesy astrological quizzes and reading up on my daily horoscopes at the end of every tabloid/magazine. It was merely just for fun–a way for me to receive my fortune for the day. As I got older, I guess you could say I began to identify with a lot of the qualities pertinent to my own sign. The same goes for many of my close friends and loved ones.
I’ve only just recently begun to explore numerology, and it’s fascinating. Everything in the universe vibrates at a specific frequency, and when you know the vibration of any object or number, you can determine its associated qualities. The idea behind numerology is that your name and your birth date affect the cosmos and your life. Now, before you go ahead and dismiss numerology, here are some reasons why you shouldn’t completely rule it out as a quack science:
You can discover your purpose (why you were put on this earth).
Even if you don’t believe in numerology, it’s always interesting to see if you’re headed in the direction that is aligned with your life path number. For instance, let’s say your life path number is 9 (the Humanitarian). Coincidentally, you may be working in a field that is related to social work or nursing. You may even be an activist who’s fighting for her rights. Or if you’re still unsure of where your road will lead, it might be interesting to find out what may be in store for you.
You can discover your strengths and weaknesses.
And as a result, you can learn a lot about yourself and how others respond to you. Similar to your astrological sign, your life path number will tell you what traits of yours are in alignment with your purpose (see above), and those that are aren’t. For example, if you’re resentful, hostile, or arrogant–it’s a good indication that your negative traits are not in line with your purpose as a Humanitarian in life.
You can determine how to navigate the ship.
Your life path number will indicate what challenges, tendencies, and obstacles may come into play throughout your life. You may also learn how to finesse these situations accordingly. If anything, having self-awareness can help you avoid those potential hazards.
You can come face to face with your hopes, desires and fears.
Your karmic number, which is created from the consonants of your birth name, can reveal your deepest hopes, fears, anxieties and more. This number is an indicator of the subconscious mind and its inner workings particularly when it comes to compulsive or irrational urges and behavior.
