UPDATE 08/01/2023: Treat Williams’ family has held a celebration of life event for their late father and husband earlier this summer, and have posted a family photograph to commemorate the event.
“As time passes, the grief doesn’t get any easier, but life is fragile,” the post’s caption reads. “We are trying to live every day like it’s our last, and appreciate the time on this beautiful planet that we are lucky to call home.”
We wish Pamela, Gill, and Ellie peace and comfort in this difficult time.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Treat Williams’ daughter Ellie, 24, is memorializing her father a month following his death in a heart touching and emotional way. Treat, 71, died after a motorcycle accident that could only be described as tragic and startling. The news was confirmed to People Magazine by Treat’s agent of 15 years, Barry McPherson. “He was killed this afternoon. He was making a left or a right [and] a car cut him off,” McPherson says. “I’m just devastated. He was the nicest guy. He was so talented.”
Following the announcement of his death, his daughter Ellie shared a message to social media. In an instagram story, Ellie said, “This is a pain I have never felt. I am absolutely shattered,” she wrote in her Instagram Story. “Thank you to everyone who has sent messages and kept our family in your hearts during this terrible heartbreak.”
Now, a month following the tragic event, Ellie has taken more time to honor her late father. With touching and devastating words Ellie outlined her and her family’s grief as they learn to cope with the loss. “I have been home with my family in Vermont for a month now, but it feels like just yesterday that I frantically got on a plane home after I got that phone call,” Ellie captioned the carousel of photos of her and the Everwood alum. “It feels like he’s just away filming. However, I keep forgetting that he’s not coming home this time.”
The Instagram post is composed of old photographs depicting the late actor alongside his daughter in a variety of situations such as doing makeup, shaving her father’s beard, and simply having fun together.
“This love is a once-in-a-lifetime love. A father’s incomprehensible love for his daughter, and a daughter’s boundless love and complete admiration for her father,” Ellie wrote in her post. “Dad, I love you more than words could ever describe. You have given me the best life imaginable, and I could not have ever dreamed of having a better father.”
