Some people just aren’t worth keeping around. If they bring more stress than love into your life, chances are this person really isn’t good for you. Whether it’s a friend, family member, or partner, toxic people can always find a way to seep into our lives. Sometimes people aren’t so blatant with their intentions, and it is hard to tell if they really care about you or not. Here are a few signs that show whether someone is really good for you or not:
They argue with you about the littlest things
Have you and this person had a full-blown argument about where you’re going to eat again? This is a red flag in your relationship, showing that you probably aren’t compatible. Although arguments do come up, and there are a variety of reasons for an argument to start, they should not come up almost every time you’re together. You two just don’t see eye to eye on a lot of things, and usually leave off the argument agreeing to disagree. If this is constant in your relationship, it’s time to cut them off and stop wasting energy on unnecessary bickering.
They aren’t supportive
This person continuously puts you down and makes you question yourself. They make you feel inferior, and their negativity has taken a terrible toll on your self-esteem. They possibly could be so negative toward you and your aspirations because they have bad feelings about their own goals, and need to take them out on someone. Stop letting their negativity spread to you and kick them to the curb.
They lie A LOT
Liars are never good people to keep around. They lie to get themselves out of trouble, to put the blame on someone else, or just to make their lives seem more interesting. Liars want you to think they have a fabulous lifestyle, when really there’s is no better than yours. Although confronting a liar is very uncomfortable, it will be the best thing to do for both you and them. If they continue to lie, it’s time for them to stay out of your life and to stop tying you into their fibs.
They’re unappreciative
No matter what you do for this person, they seem to ask for more. It could be a friend, a boss, or a family member that asks for a hand and takes the whole arm. You have put in so much time and effort and yet they still want you to do more for them, and they never show you any appreciation. If they repetitively take advantage of your kind nature and inability to say “no,” it’s time to draw the line and tell them what they need to hear. If they don’t change their leech-like ways, take that poison out of your life.
They try to change you
They act like they’re embarrassed by any little thing you do. They tell you to lose weight, to change your regular hair or makeup routine, and to rethink your whole life. They think they’re looking out for you, but they’re really just being too critical and it drives you insane. This is one of the major signs of a toxic person in your life, and if they don’t like you the way you are, then they aren’t worthy of being around you. A person who truly cares about you finds you perfect just the way you are, and you shouldn’t change yourself for anyone other than yourself.
