Officer Chad Swanson, who arrived on the scene and survived the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting, has died in a highway collision.
CHP Lt. Steve Carapia said that “it looks like a vehicle may have been traveling at an unsafe speed and possibly conducted an unsafe lane change. Unfortunately, the officer was struck and ejected off of his motorbike.”
$63,000 has been raised for the family of Officer Swanson, including his wife and three sons, under the age of 5.
Manhattan Beach Police Chief Rachel Johnson said that Swanson was a “beloved officer exemplified courage, and his impact reached far beyond the precinct, touching the lives of those who had the privilege of working alongside him.”
