Leonardo DiCaprio is a man of many faces through his show-stopping work on the silver screen yet through his life he has also been a man of many faiths. While DiCaprio was raised Catholic during his upbringing in Los Angeles, CA, he does not identify as a Catholic anymore. In an interview, DiCaprio explained his experience with religion. “Death freaks me out. I don’t know about the afterlife. I’m not religious, you know. I’m not an atheist, but I’ve never had a religion,” he said.
Well DiCaprio’s Catholic roots have come back later in his life as he met up with Pope Francis in 2016. During a trip to the Vatican, DiCaprio and the Pope spoke about what can be done to combat the ongoing climate crisis impacting the world at large.
Their meetup comes after DiCaprio was honored for his environmental justice work. During the World Economic Forum where he received their Crystal Award for his leading role in fighting climate change. Earlier in 2015 the Pope released his 2015 encyclical which garnered high praise for his demand that there be more done to combat climate change.
